In Remission!

Looking back now, the whole chemo experience was so surreal. To take medicine with such dramatic side effects when you don’t FEEL sick! Keeping busy and as normal a schedule as possible made the time go by “quickly” and before I knew it I finished 6 treatments and the post-treatment PET scan and bone marrow biopsy to get the ALL CLEAR! One month until my first 3-month scan! Hair is re-growing! Neuropathy in the hands almost non-existant! The remaining problem is muscle pain in my right leg – as if I’ve over-exercised. Anyone have that problem? Will it go away eventually?

For me, finding things to be thankful for and praise God for in the midst of the yuckiness helped keep my mind on the positive. Surround yourself with positive people! Find out that God really IS there and His grace and peace are real, and share that good news with others!

Paul threw a punch at your cancer.

I had several aches and pains that lingered for a few months. I had pains in my upper chest/shoulders that lingered after I was done. All gone now though! Glad all is going well – congratulations!

CONGRATS :) I’m so happy for you!

Very happy for you Beth! Congratulations! It certainly does feel surreal looking back.

That is great news, Beth! Hope you continue to mend.

Mari

good for you, Congratulations. Its is such a releaving feeling.
Stay well,
Claudya

Wonderful news…good for you. My hand neuropathy is much better as well, but I still have some joint pain. I guess chemo affects everyone a little differenty. I get tired, sometimes a little blue…but so Thankful to be done with my treatment.
Stay well, and thanks for sharing.

First treatment done!

Yesterday I had my portacath placement and today my first R-CHOP. Still sore around the port but tolerable with some ibuprofen. Took 4 hours to get the Rituxan in and about halfway through had itching scalp and sinuses but that only lasted about 30 minutes. All the rest went quickly and so far I feel fine. They said it could take a day or two to feel the effects and two weeks until the hair goes. Praising God for doing well and for modern medicine!

Hi Beth,
Glad to hear that your first R-CHOP went well and that you have a Port, I found it so much easier with those things. I also had a burning in my sinuses from one of the chemo meds but was usually pretty quick. I hope that your post treatment good days come quick and you stay symptome free.
Take Care,
Jeff

I had the itchy scalp as well. They gave me IV benadryl and it stopped. I did not have a port, but have quite a bit of scar tissue in one of my arms because of the IVs. The adriamycin is hard on veins. Hope all goes well over the next few days. We all react different. I am keeping my fingers crossed that you have minimal side-effects.
